Lord, help me to sense Your Presence in people, in events, and in the quiet movement of your Spirit within me
32nd Week in Ordinary Time : Thursday 13th November 2025
Wis 7:22--8:1; Ps 118 (119):89-91, 130, 135, 175; Lk 17:20-25 (Ps Wk IV)
If a person is not observant enough of one’s surroundings, even when that person is asked to “Look here! Look there!” one can really miss out on many things. Therefore, there is a call from Jesus to be aware of one’s surroundings; and not only that, there is also the summons from Jesus to be aware of what’s going on within oneself.
The kingdom of God is already among us. We don’t have to wait for the kingdom of heaven when we die and go there. We need wisdom in order to recognise God’s presence and kingdom among us. Wisdom is described in many and varied ways in the first reading, including all-surveying and penetrating all. With wisdom, we can sense the kingdom of God and feel the ever-active presence of God in the people we encounter, the events that happen around us, and the quiet movement of God’s spirit within us.
There is a need for each and every one of us to practise this God-mindfulness. It’s not just a matter of being mindful of oneself, with one’s emotions and internal movements. St Ignatius of Loyola, through his spirituality, recommends people to contemplate the God in our life Who is labouring for us. This God is active and works for our good, even in the ordinariness of daily life.
PRAYER: God of love, Who labours for me every day, please help me to recognise You at every moment.
