Lord, help me to be ready to hear God’s voice and to follow where God wants me to go

32nd Week in Ordinary Time : Friday 14th November 2025

Wis 13:1-9; Ps 18 (19):2-5; Lk 17:26-37 (Ps Wk IV)

For the writer of Wisdom, it was inconceivable that a person could look at the beauty of nature and not realise that there is a creator of everything. For Jews, that creator was God and for Christians that is true as well. God was so much greater than God’s creation for God was the Creator. It would be easy to worship the creation because of its beauty but God is the one to be worshipped.

Jesus was speaking to His disciples after the Pharisees had asked when the kingdom of God was coming. Jesus reminded the disciples of what had happened in Noah’s time. Everyone was going about their ordinary lives when, suddenly, there was the great flood. It was a similar situation with Sodom – ordinary life was moving forward when suddenly, fire and sulphur destroyed the city and its inhabitants.

Only God knows when the Son of Man will be revealed. People will be caught by surprise. Jesus shared an important message – we must not hold onto our present life of tangible things, but we must always be open to the presence of God in our lives. We must be ready to hear God’s voice and to follow where God wants us to go.

PRAYER: Lord, I will follow wherever You lead me.
