Lord, help me to make good use of the gifts and talents you give me, to build your Kingdom on earth

Trust is incomplete without proving itself with responsibility. It is never exempted from performing a role. For Paul, it is plain and clear that those being won over by Christ’s love and promise must have a heart that sees the need for Christians to be responsible and productive members of society. This is even more crucial that followers of Christ The Way cannot impress an attitude of idly relying on others and becoming a burden to others. The good news that Paul preached is not to delude believers into idle gazing, just as the Apostle James highlighted in his epistle linking faith and work.
In the parable of talents, a master gives different amounts of money (talents) to three servants before going on a journey. Two servants invest their talents and double them, while the third servant buries his talent. Upon the master’s return, he praises the first two servants for their faithfulness and diligence, giving them more responsibility. The third servant is rebuked and punished for his fear and inaction. Jesus’ telling of the proportionate gift of talents given to each individual is indeed a reiteration of active generosity to make good use of the gifts provided by God. God’s gifts must not be hidden and buried. They must contribute to growth and aid the flourishing health and social development of family and society at large. God has entrusted us, according to our ability, with deep understanding and wisdom.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, deliver me from burying myself in fear of failure.
