  • Third Week of Easter : Wednesday 17th April 2024

Lord God, may the grace You give us continue to guide us in doing Your Will

Third Week of Easter : Wednesday 17th April 2024

Acts 8:1-8; Ps. 65:1-7;
Jn. 6:35-40 (Ps. Wk. III)

Many of us often talk of doing God’s Will but how many of us really understand what the words “God’s Will” means? Very often, we think we know God’s Will and justify it with what we do or what we feel needs to be done. But in actuality, we are doing our own will.

In the Gospel reading today, Jesus tells us that He came from heaven not to do His own will but the will of the One who sent Him. He gave us two things that constitute the Father’s Will. The first is that He should lose nothing of all the Father has given to Him. The second is that whoever sees and believes in Jesus will have eternal life. That is the Will of God and that is also the message of Easter for us.

We do God’s Will when we do not lose the fervor to bring the good news of the Resurrection to those we meet, regardless of whether they are baptised or not. We have to face the fact that there are many who have fallen away and it is by our life that we bring this news of Jesus’ resurrection to them. Easter is, above all, a season of hope that all have a future, the promise of eternal life.

Lord God, may the grace You give us continue to guide us in doing Your Will.
