Dear Lord, help us not to allow ourselves to be misled by the world

Saturday after Ash Wednesday : 17th February 2024

Is. 58:9-14; Ps. 85:12,3-4,5-6;
Lk. 5:27-32 (Ps. Wk. IV)

The response to the Responsorial Psalm of today states – “Show me, Lord, Your way so that I may walk in Your truth.” In our present age, truth is so fluid that it has become relative and it is true only to those who believe them. Even though certain truths are universal and generally accepted by the majority of the people, the world is becoming increasingly polarised.

The fact is that, no matter how we try to deny some things, truth will always be the truth and nothing but the truth. This is the Truth of God.

But we can only walk in God’s truth if we walk in His way. If we follow the way of the world, then we will always be walking in the dark. If we continue to walk in the darkness of this world, then we will be led away from the path that leads to God.

This path is open to all who need it, and, as Jesus in the Gospel tells us, “it is the sick who needs the doctor, not the righteous” Let us all use this time of Advent to seek our heavenly physician, Christ Jesus.

Dear Lord, help us to truly seek You who can lead us in the path of truth so that we will not allow ourselves to be misled by the world.
