ST ANGELA MERICI, Virgin, pray for us
3rd Week in Ordinary Time (II) : Tuesday 27th January 2026
2 Sam 6:12-15, 17-19; Ps 23 (24):7-10; Mk 3:31-35 (Ps Wk III)
When King David brought the Ark of God into the City of David, Jerusalem, he danced before God with all his heart. Joy overflowed, reflecting his gratitude to God, because the presence of God had finally found a dwelling among His people. In that moment, he demonstrated true reverence: a heart that rejoices before its Creator. This joy also stirred him to dance. In ancient Hebrew times, dance was a sacred act expressing gratitude, praise, and communal connection to God.
In the Gospel, Jesus too reveals where true family lies. When Jesus is told that His mother and brothers are outside, He turns to those who sit listening and says, “Here are My mother and My brothers. Whoever does the Will of God is My brother and sister and mother.” Jesus teaches us that the truest bond is not of blood, but of faith and obedience to the Father’s Will.
Today, we are invited to welcome God’s presence into our hearts as David did — joyfully and wholeheartedly. Let us also remember that we belong to a larger family, one united not by blood ties, but by love. When we listen to God’s Word and live it out, we become part of Christ’s universal family. Let us also dance with joy!
PRAYER: Lord God, let me dance for joy in Your holy presence, and among my brothers and sisters who do Your Will.
