  • 3rd WEEK OF LENT (A) : Wednesday 11th March 2026

Lord, this Lent, help me to slow down and truly reflect on my existence and purpose in life with You!

3rd WEEK OF LENT (A) : Wednesday 11th March 2026

Dt 4:1, 5-9; Ps 147:12-13, 15-16, 19-20; Mt 5:17-19 (Ps Wk III)

As I reflect on the readings during this Third Week of Lent, I find myself deeply moved by the themes of spiritual thirst, renewal, and the beauty of transformation through repentance. Each reading for this week reinforces the importance of embracing God’s commandments and teachings. Today’s reading in Deuteronomy reminds me that keeping His statutes opens the door to blessings. The Psalm speaks of the peace and prosperity that come from dwelling ourselves in God’s word. And in Matthew’s teachings, Jesus emphasises that adhering to the Law is not just about rules; it is about cultivating a lifelong relationship with God — a relationship that gives life its true meaning.

As I ponder these messages, I feel a calling to allow my own spiritual thirst to lead me to genuine transformation and repentance. This Lent, I want to slow down and truly reflect on my existence and purpose. I recognise the necessity of availing myself of the Sacrament of Reconciliation — not only for my own spiritual health, but for the healing of our community.

In sharing this journey of renewal, I echo the beautiful prayer that will be intoned over us at the end of the Eucharist: “Give to your people, our God, a resolve that is pleasing to you.” May my desire to align closer to God’s teachings bring about a deeper sense of peace and grace in my life and within our community. Deo gratias!

PRAYER: O Lord, quench my thirst as I seek You each day.
