Lord, help me to use my gifts to serve you for your greater glory
7th Week of Easter : Saturday 4th June 2022
Acts 28:16-20,30-31; Ps. 10:4,5, and 7;
Jn. 21:20-25
The Jews in Jerusalem had implored the Romans to arrest Paul because of his preaching about Jesus. As a Roman citizen, Paul was brought to Rome for trial. Under house arrest in Rome, Paul met first with the Jewish community. He explained that he had been arrested because he had preached about Jesus Christ, “the hope of Israel.” For two years, Paul remained in Rome and shared the Gospel with all who came to him.
There was a certain embrassassment between Peter and the Beloved Disciple. Jesus’ words to Peter underline the fact that we are all called to follow Jesus and should not compare our relationship with Jesus to that of someone else. There was a role for Peter to play, and there was a role for John as well. But Jesus called each to follow Him and bring His message to others. This is true for us as we have each been given different gifts and are called to use these gifts for the glory of God.
Lord, help me to serve You according to Your will.
