Lord, help us to be willing to set other priorities aside, & serve you, just like your disciples did

Feast St Andrew, Apostle : Monday, 30th November 2020

Rom. 10:9-18; Ps. 18:2-3,4-5;
Mt. 4:18-22 (Ps Wk I)

Paul believed that salvation came through faith and was available to all.

God loved both Jews and gentiles and provided salvation for all, but each person had to recognise the sovereignty of God and call on the name of God. Believers also had to be willing to take the good news of salvation to others so they too could hear and believe.

Are we faithful in sharing the love of God through the way in which we live?

Jesus wanted others to join him in sharing the good news of salvation. He chose his own disciples, not from the elite or well-educated for those are not necessary qualities of a good disciple.

We, as disciples of Christ need to be willing to set other priorities aside, just like Jesus’ disciples did. They were fishermen, and when Jesus invited them to follow him, they went immediately. That would not have been well-received in that time, and culture for the sons was to follow in their father’s footsteps and carry on the family trade. These men stepped outside normal expectations and behaviour to follow Jesus. Are we willing to do the same so that others will learn the good news?

Lord, help me to be a faithful witness to Your love for all.
