Daily Word Of God

Mark 4:26-32

Jesus said to the crowd, ‘This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the land. Night and day, while he sleeps, when he is awake, the seed is sprouting and growing; how, he does not know. Of its own accord the land produces first the shoot, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. And when the crop is ready, at once he starts to reap because the harvest has come.’

He also said, ‘What can we say that the kingdom is like? What parable can we find for it? It is like a mustard seed which, at the time of its sowing, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth. Yet once it is sown it grows into the biggest shrub of them all and puts out big branches so that the birds of the air can shelter in its shade.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • We are sons and daughters of God’s Kingdom. The “seeds of the Kingdom” i.e. the Truth of God’s salvation is planted in each of our hearts.

  • God loves us immensely and personally. At every moment He protects, nurtures and guides us to grow in His Truth and Love so that we can share the fruits of His Kingdom.  By His sacrifices, sufferings and death, Jesus shows us the way to His Father’s Kingdom.

  • This “Kingdom” leads us to a new life of eternal hope, peace and joy. Are we willing to make the necessary sacrifices of living a Christ-like life daily? Am I fully aware of this precious gift of God’s Kingdom?
