Daily Word Of God

Luke 16:10-15

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘The man who can be trusted in little things can be  trusted in great; the man who is dishonest in little things will be dishonest in great. If then you cannot be trusted with money, that tainted thing, who will trust you with genuine riches? And if you cannot be trusted with what is not yours, who will give you what is your very own?

‘No servant can be the slave of two masters: he will either hate the first and love the second, or treat the first with respect and the second with scorn. You cannot be the slave both of God and of money.

The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and laughed at him. He said to them, ‘You are the very ones who pass yourselves off as virtuous in people’s sight, but God knows your hearts. For what is thought highly by men is loathsome in the sight of God.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • A true Christian must use his money in God’s ways. This means that we are to use money prudently and wisely and not splurge on unnecessary things that are wasteful and not needed.

  • The blessings that God has given us in money are not to be taken for granted as we have heard of people with a reversal of fortunes. This is not to instill fear, but to become more aware that God’s blessings to us.

  • Pray for the graces to be grateful to God all the time; for everything that we have: money, life, faith and family, etc. These are all God’s blessings to us.
