Daily Word Of God
Luke 16:10-13
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘The man who can be trusted in little things can be trusted in great; the man who is dishonest in little things will be dishonest in great. If then you cannot be trusted with money, that tainted thing, who will trust you with genuine riches? And if you cannot be trusted with what is not yours, who will give you what is your very own?
‘No servant can be the slave of two masters: he will either hate the first and love the second, or treat to the first with respect and the second with scorn. You cannot be the slave both of God and of money.’
Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Many things can rule or control us – the love of money, possessions, power and prestige, the glamour of wealth, unruly passions and addictions. All these materialistic and secular attractions can crowd out the love of God in our lives.
- The “master” in our life is that which governs our thoughts, shapes our ideals, controls our desires and dominate the values we choose to live daily.
- Only the Spirit Jesus has the power to set us free from our slavery to these sins and addiction. If our hearts do not possess God’s love, then we may be possessed by other lesser “loves” that draw us away from God. What does your heart treasure most now?
