Daily Word Of God

Luke 21:34-36

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened by debauchery and drunkenness and the cares of life, and that day will come upon you unexpectedly, like a trap. For it will come down on all those living on the face of the earth.

‘Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to hold your ground before the Son of man.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus tells us to be watchful in practicing our faith at all times and not to be distracted by the norms and the secular values that influence our daily living.

  • It is so easy to be “caught up” with negative and alluring influences and especially during the festive season when the voice of the media is very loud and distracting.

  • However, Christ must always be at the centre of our lives so that we do not lose focus on Him regardless of what we are going through in our lives. This is the surest and safest way of keeping close to Him.
