Daily Word Of God

Matthew 7:15-20

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves. You will be able to tell them by their fruits. Can people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?

‘In the same way, a sound tree produces good fruit but a rotten tree bad fruit. A sound tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a rotten tree bear good fruit. Any tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown on the fire. I repeat, you will be able to tell them by their fruits.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • As followers of Jesus, we must strive to know and love Him and develop a relationship with Him.

  • Once we have a personal relationship with Jesus, Our Lord and friend, we will be able to “bear good fruit” in our lives because the core of our heart and being would be lived in His love and ways.

  • However, if we were to observe the laws and rituals of the Church externally as fulfilling legal obligations, we are not having a true relationship with the Lord, then; our faith is lukewarm or even hypocritical. They are like good looking fruits that are rotten on the inside.
