Daily Word Of God

John 19:25-27

Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala.  Seeing his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing near her, Jesus said to his mother, ‘Woman, this is your son.’  Then to the disciple he said, ‘This is your mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • As we celebrate today’s Feast, of Mary, Mother of the Church, let us also pray that Mary, would specially care and protect all mothers in the world, especially those who are suffering from exploitation and abuse.

  • Mary’s fidelity to the Father’s Will, was especially shown from the Annunciation to Her Assumption into heaven. May she pray for those who have lost their faith in God and the Universal Catholic Church.

  • Mary’s humility opens her heart to accepting the abundant graces from God, and using them in her care and love for those in need of the Truth of Salvation.
