John 3:13-17
Jesus said to Nicodemus: ‘No one has gone up to heaven except the one who came down from heaven, the Son of man; as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.
‘For this is how God loved the world: he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
‘For God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but so that through him the world might be saved.

- In today’s Gospel Jesus speaks to Nicodemus of a new birth in the Spirit. This “new spiritual birth” essentially includes the cross and the resurrection as explained in the analogy of Moses and the Son being “lifted up.”
- God shows His love for us by giving us the best He has to offer – His only Son, Jesus, to atone for our sins and the sins of the world.
- Do we thirst for the new life in the Spirit? Ask Jesus to fill us with His Spirit so that through Jesus, we might all be saved and enter His Eternal Kingdom.
