Daily Word Of God

Mark 6:46-52

After saying goodbye to the crowd Jesus went off into the hills to pray. When evening came, the boat was far out on the lake, and he was alone on the land. He could see that they were worn outwith rowing, for the wind was against them; and about the fourth watch of the night he came towards them walking on the lake. He was going to pass them by, but when they saw him walking on the lake they thought it was a ghost and cried out; for they had all seen him and were terrified. But at once he spoke to them and said, ‘Courage! It is I!  Don’t be afraid.’

Then he got into the boat with them and the wind dropped. They were utterly and completely dumbfounded, because they had not seen what the miracle of the loaves meant; their minds were closed.

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Often when we face our troubles in life, we become so caught up with our sufferings that we forget just how good and Gracious our God is to us.

  • God has been with us every moment of our lives, especially during our sufferings. However, it is during these trying times that we find ourselves doubting God and even fearing or getting angry at His judgment.

  • We need to pray for the faith needed to trust in Him, for if we have the trust, no suffering is too great for us to overcome.
