Daily Word Of God

John 3:7b-8, 11-15

Jesus said to Nicodemus: ‘Do not be surprised when I say: You must be born from above. The wind blows where it pleases; you hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. That is how it is with all who are born of the Spirit.’

‘I tell you solemnly, we speak only about what we know and witness only to what we have seen and yet you people reject our evidence. If you do not believe me when I speak to you about things in this world, how are you going to believe me when I speak to you about heavenly things?

‘No one has gone up to heaven except the one who came down from heaven, the Son of man who is in heaven; and the Son of Man must be lifted up as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • The spirit and love of God is like the air we breathe, the wind that is invisible; it is encompassing. We are able to feel Him everywhere and every day of our lives.

  • By saying that he only ‘speaks about what He knows and witnesses’, Jesus is saying that all He preaches is True and is “supported” by the evidences of the miracles He performed.  Hence, we should have full faith in Him.

  • Jesus’ resurrection after His death is the clearest evidence that He is the Saviour and Lord of our lives.  We need to show our gratitude to Him by renewing our faith in Him in our daily living.
