Dear Friend in the Lord,

Judgmental – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminded His disciples not to be judgemental towards others.  If we are not careful, we may become “hypocrites” through such “self-righteous” attitudes. Ponder on, “God is all Merciful towards us for our sins.  Thus, let us allow God to be the judge of others; as we are all sinners.”

Fr Philip Heng, S.J.

Luke 6:39-42

Jesus told a parable to his disciples, ‘Can one blind person guide another? Surely both will fall into a pit? The disciple is not superior to teacher; the fully trained disciple will be like his teacher. Why do you observe the splinter in your brother’s eye and never notice the plank in your own?

‘How can you say to your brother, “Brother, let me take out that splinter in your eye,” when you cannot see the plank in your own? Hypocrite! Take the plank out of your own eye first, and then you will see clearly enough to take out the splinter in your brother’s eye.’
