30th Week in Ordinary Time : Wednesday 29th October 2025

God does not look at surface appearances but our interior life and disposition. Not only looking but actively engaging us in a relationship that is as real as the ones we have with people around us. This relationship could be our narrow pathway to God.

The “narrow door” is to describe the end point of our pathway which leads us into the kingdom of God. The door to the kingdom of God is always open to those who seek it but many are lured by “bigger” and more glamourous doors. Ever consider how doors of our churches (especially old ones) are small while shopping malls, casinos and entertainment outlets are wide and big? They even open by themselves while one has to pull or push open the church door?

In truth, the authenticity of our faith-life is linked to our life-mission. When Jesus was on earth, He had many followers but few friends. Of the thousands that He fed, healed and taught; only three stood at the foot of His cross. To put it casually, many were happy to party with Jesus – “we once ate and drank in Your company; You taught in our streets!” – but they were unwilling to bear the cross of the mission. When trials and tribulations come, they fall away.

PRAYER Lord, lead us to seek the narrow door and stand where few dare to stand – with You. We await the day at the door to know You the Master will open it and say, “Come in, you who are blessed of My Father.”
