Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it
7th Week in Ordinary Time (C) : Saturday 1st March 2025
Sir 17:1-15; Ps 102 (103):13-18 Mk 10:13-16 (Ps Wk III)
Family defines the home of belonging. God sets it as a cradle of proliferating seeds of human dignity and fulfilment. As we are born into the family, we enrich the fabric of our human connection. Each will explore the delicate and rough connection within a nucleus family. It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise than to hear the song of fools. There, each will taste the lingering flavours of the kingdom of God. Our consideration to a family must therefore be thoughtful and our judgment measured, to ensure the true worth of a person is valued and realized.
Jesus enters into the very fabric of the human family. He unfolds it with a sublime connection and noble expansion by proclaiming the kingdom of God is confounded in the welcoming attitude and embrace of the innocence among us. Indeed, Jesus comes into the family of hard work, tough relationships but submissive to God and the care of Mary and Joseph. However, in saying “Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it,” and embracing the children, Jesus is actually admonishing the disciples to embrace His innocence in the court of the hostile Pharisees.
Lord, You place us in the school of family, be our teacher in bearing truthful acceptance of vulnerability and innocence.
