The measure you give will be the measure you get, and still more will be given you!
3rd Week in Ordinary Time (C) : Thursday 30th January 2025
Heb 10:19-25; Ps 23:1-6;
Mk 4:21-25 (Ps Wk III)
The fact that Christians consider themselves as children of light demonstrates that they have an attitude of reverence for the Lord. Their lives are not covered in shamefulness under the light like an outcast leper in the sight of society. What does it mean to you? Reflect on Jesus’ saying, “For there is nothing hidden, except to be disclosed; nor is anything secret, except to come to light.” Nothing is hidden in God’s sight. Everything about me is known by God as the psalmist echoes, “You are there, wherever I hide.” (Psalm 139). It simply calls us to be light to others. Being beacons of light is not a coincidence. From the beginning, God knows us. We cannot hide like Adam and Eve hiding among the bushes that fail to cover them. To be known utterly by God is the most beautiful experience anyone can long for. It should not instil fear but reverence, a blessed assurance.
So, “Pay attention to what you hear; the measure you give will be the measure you get, and still more will be given you.” When we profess our faith, do we really hear ourselves saying it with conviction from the depths of our hearts? “I believe in God the Father almighty… I believe in Jesus Christ… I believe in the Holy Spirit…”?
Since God gives His benevolent attention to us, our role is to bring this life of reverence and the faith that is responsible to others.
Lord, enlighten me that You patiently share Your intimate knowledge of me without hiding.
