St John Bosco

3rd Week in Ordinary Time : Friday 31st January 2020

2 Sam. 11:1-4a,5-10,13-17; Ps. 51(50):3-4,5-7,10-11;
Mk. 4:26-34 (Ps Wk III)

David’s infamous adultery is the content of the first reading. Here, we can see both God’s justice and infinite mercy. God favoured David highly but at the same time reprimanded and punished him for his sins. When David realized his sin and repented, God forgave him. God loves every one of us unconditionally, but at the same time, he reprimands us when we sin. He loves us but dislikes our sins.

The way any gadget works is quite a marvel to understand for any ordinary person who uses it. However, there is something more unfathomable than these, namely the mystery of growth in any living thing. It has bewildered many scientists and has led to their affirmation of the existence of God. Every potential seed has a mystery of life packaged in it, and the DNA molecule orchestrates that. God is the creator of such a molecule. As the DNA molecule helps the physical growth of humans, in the same way, the human soul helps in the spiritual growth. For this, one needs to be open and humble to receive God.

Father, we thank You for the gift of life and ask You for the grace to receive You whole-heartedly. Amen.
