Lord, help me find You in all things

34th Week in Ordinary Time (C) : Saturday 26th November 2022

Rev. 22:1-7; Ps. 94:1-2,3-5,6-7;
Lk. 21:34-36 (Ps. Wk. II)

Getting into the religious habit is their habit of prayer and continence, which also signifies their distinctive outer garment, called a habit. For most people, it may be the habit of getting up early in the morning, living and eating healthily. For others, it is the habit of frugality, hard work, cleanliness, etc. These habits are good.

On the other hand, some bad habits include drinking, smoking, excessive phone use, etc. Over time we grow into our routines, regardless of whether they are good habits or bad habits. They become our way of life that we are not even aware of them because they have precisely become a habit.

Jesus says today, “Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened with debauchery and drunkenness and the cares of life, and that day will be sprung on you suddenly, like a trap.” We must be conscious of our good and bad habits so that we are not drowned in them.

In a way, this relates to the first reading that mentions that one day we shall see God face to face, that is, with clarity. But, we don’t have to wait for that day to see God face to face in heaven.

Even now, we can become aware of God’s work in our lives. We must be conscious of our habits so that we can see beyond our routines or practices to see God actively present in our lives. Thus, we are not caught unaware of the actual day when it comes because we keep God continually in view.

O God, help me find You in all things.
