Daily Word Of God

John 20:19-23

In the evening of the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among them. He said to them, ‘Peace be with you,’ and showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy at seeing the Lord, and he said to them again, ‘Peace be with you.

‘As the Father sent me, so am I sending you.’ After saying this he breathed on them and said: ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Through our baptism we died to our sins and rose to new life in Christ Jesus.

  • The challenges of Baptism are for us to go out and proclaim the Good News.

  • Jesus empowers us to do His work through His gift of His Spirit’s presence in us. Focus on one thing you want to do for Christ right now and say sincerely, “Holy Spirit I warmly welcome You into my heart”.  Then, listen to your heart and feel how the Spirit may be moving you!
