Daily Word Of God

Mark 10:28-31

‘What about us?’ Peter asked Jesus. ‘We have left everything and followed you.’

Jesus said, ‘I tell you solemnly, there is no one who has left house, brothers, sisters, father, children or land for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not  be repaid hundred times over, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and land –  not without persecution – now in this present time and, in the world to come, eternal life.   Many who are first will be last, and the last, first.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus said that for those who “left everything” for the sake of serving and living in God’s ways will be rewarded a hundred times over, both here on earth and for all eternity in heaven.

  • Peter found the graces and strength to respond positively to Jesus’ invitation to “give up everything” because He knew and believed that it was worthwhile doing it for Jesus, the Son of God.

  • What hindrances are preventing us from responding to and living in God’s invitation wholeheartedly more fully in His ways?
