Daily Word Of God

Luke 17:31b-35, 37

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘When that day comes, anyone on the housetop, with his possessions in the house, must not come down to collect them, nor must anyone in the fields turn back either. Remember Lot’s wife. Anyone who tries to preserve his life will lose it; and anyone who loses it will keep it safe.

‘I tell you, on that night, two will be in one bed, one will be taken, the other left; two women will be grinding corn together, one will be taken, the other left.’ The disciples interrupted, ‘Where, Lord?’ He said, ‘Where the body is, there too will the vultures gather.’

  • The return of God at the end of the world will be in His time.  Jesus urges us live a more vigilant life and should not be caught by its unexpected coming.

  • God judges each person individually according to how he/she has lived his/her life and responded to the graces that He has given him/her.

  • God’s judgment is good news for those who lived faithfully in His ways and will be rewarded with everlasting life. What graces do you need to ask from God to live more vigilantly?
