Daily Word Of God

Luke 8:16-18

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘No one lights a lamp to cover it with a bowl or to put it under a bed. No, he puts it on a lamp-stand so that people may see the light when they come in. For nothing is hidden but it will be made clear, nothing secret but it will be known and brought to light.

‘So take care how you hear; for anyone who has will be given more; from anyone who has not, even what he thinks he has will be taken away.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • In today’s Gospel Jesus uses the image of a lamp to describe how His disciples are to witness to His truth and love. The light of Christ shines through the hearts of believers who lives the Gospel of Christ faithfully.

  • As followers of Christ we should continue to deepen our relationship with the Lord at all times regardless of the challenges we face in our lives, and never take God’s goodness and love for granted.

  • The more we listen to God’s voice speaking and guiding us in our daily living, the more intimate our relationship will be with Him. When was Jesus closest or furthest from you? Have you been Jesus’ light to others?
