Daily Word Of God

Matthew 9:35-37

Jesus made a tour through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing all kinds of diseases and sickness.

And when he saw the crowds he felt sorry for them because they were harassed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send labourers to his harvest.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus visited not only the wealthy cities, but the poor villages as well.  The souls of those who are meanest in the world are as precious to Christ as those who are closest and faithful to Him.

  • This mystery of God’s love is beyond our human comprehension because of our limited experiences of what love is, let alone the divine love of God.

  • The Lord wants us to experience the Richness of His harvest, and truly, how bountiful it is! Can we not find the strength within us to serve as Labourers of  the field of the Lord; to serve Him who has given us everything?
