Daily Word Of God

Luke 21:29-33

Jesus told his disciples a parable, ‘Look at the fig tree and indeed every tree. As soon as you see them bud, you can see for yourselves that summer is now near. So with you when you see these things happening: know that the kingdom of God is near.

‘In truth I tell you, before this generation has passed away all will have taken place. Sky and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus was predicting the future of His Church and the consequences of events that His believer would be subjected for sake of their faith.

  • Just as the flowering of a tree is a sign that the fruiting season is coming, so also the second coming of Jesus will be a sign that the fullness of God’s Kingdom is imminent.

  • Let us reflect on the quality of our spiritual life and ask ourselves, “How deep and personal is our relationship with the Lord and how is this evident or not evident in our daily living?”
