Daily Word Of God

Luke 11:9-13

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘So I say to you: Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; everyone who searches finds; everyone who knocks will have he door opened.

‘What father among you, if his son asked for a fish, would hand him a snake? Or if he asked for an egg, hand him a scorpion? If you then, evil as you are, know how to give your children what is good, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • When we “ask” God for some needs in prayer, it does not mean that we are treating God as our “Santa Claus”. All that we have comes from God.

  • Yet, it is important to “ask” like a child who recognizes that he can go to his Father who would listen and give the best to him.

  • Our Father in heaven wants to have an intimate relationship with us. When we      “ask” we are breaking the barrier between God and us. How much do you fear   God or how close are you to God?
