Daily Word Of God

Matthew 12:14-21

The Pharisees went out and began to plot against Jesus, discussing how to destroy him. Jesus knew this and withdrew from the district. Many followed him and he cured them all but warned them not to make him known. This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:

Look! My servant whom I have chosen, my beloved, in whom my soul delights, I will send my Spirit upon him, and he will present judgement to the nations; he will not brawl or cry out, his voice is not heard in the streets, he will not break the crushed reed, or snuff the faltering wick, until he has made judgement victorious; in him the nations will put their hope.

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • In today’s Gospel passage Jesus did not want people to make Him known as the Messiah with divine powers as His time to reveal this Truth has not yet come and also, He did not want a political uprising because of Him.

  • Jesus is not the Messiah with political powers, but one who serves with great humility and eventually carried His Cross and died to save all peoples.

  • How humble and Christ-like are we?  Do we witness to God’s goodness and justice through our Christ-like deeds?
