As Jesus was speaking, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said, ‘Happy the womb that bore you and the breasts you sucked!’
But he replied, ‘Still happier those who hear the word of God and keep it!’

- In today’s Gospel Jesus acknowledges the truth of the compliment from the woman in the crowd for His mother. He also added that union with God is a greater blessedness.
- Mary is God’s model disciple. When she heard God’s Word, her heart was filled with great joy and she humbly kept and obeyed them at all times. How faithful are we in keeping God’s Word?
- Each time we follow Jesus and seek to do His Will we will grow ever closer to Him. May we always emulate Mary in her humble submission to God’s will and learn to ponder God’s words prayerfully in our hearts.
