Daily Word Of God

John 5:43-47

Jesus said to the Jews: ‘I have come in the name of my Father and you refuse to accept me; if someone else should come in his own name you would accept him. How can you believe, since you look to each other for glory and are not concerned with the glory that comes from the one God?

‘Do not imagine that I am going to accuse you before the Father: you have placed your hopes on Moses, and Moses will be the one who accuses you. If you really believed him you would believe me too, since it was about me that he was writing; but if you will not believe what he wrote, how can you believe what I say?’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • This passage is a direct mirror of our own daily lives as Christians. Many a time when we choose to do good we measure it with our neighbours instead of how good Jesus is to us.

  • We must look into our hearts and truly sense God’s goodness to us. Do we live in contrast to God’s goodness?  If we do how ought we love more and be open to God’s merciful love for us.

  • During this season of Lent, spend more time pondering on God’s Merciful Love for us and how you are called to be more grateful to Him.
