Daily Word Of God

Matthew 28:16-20

The eleven disciples set out for Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had arranged to meet them. When they saw him they fell down before him, though some hesitated.

Jesus came up and spoke to them. He said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, make disciples of all the nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • When the disciples saw the risen Christ, they fell on to their knees and worshipped Him, though some hesitated.

  • The disciples who lived with and taught by Jesus for three years saw the physical presence of the Risen Christ.  Yet, some still doubted the reality of the Resurrection.  Thus, it is not surprising that millions today doubt this Truth.

  • Jesus promised His disciples and us that He will be with us till the end of time.  As such, we should not fear or hesitate to accept Jesus’ commission to teach and baptize everyone in the name of the Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  How much zeal do we have to evangelise the Good News of Salvation?
