Daily Word Of God

Mark 13:33-37

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Be on your guard, stay awake, because you never know when the time will come. It is like a man travelling abroad: he has gone from his home, and left his servants in charge, each with his own work to do; and he has told the doorkeeper to stay awake.

‘So stay awake, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming, evening, midnight, cockcrow or dawn; if he comes unexpectedly, he must not find you asleep. And what I am saying to you I say to all: Stay awake!’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus exhorts us to be ever vigilant and not take the importance of living our faith for granted.

  • Jesus was well prepared when the time came for Him to fulfil His Father’s will.  He sets the example for us of how to live in accordance with God’s commandments and Will.

  • Instead of living in the fear of the end of the world, we should live in the joy of trying to live in Christ-like ways as best as we can.  How deep is your desire to live in fuller union with Our Lord in this world and in heaven?
