Daily Word Of God

Luke 12:35-38

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘See that you have your belts done up and your lamps lit. Be like people waiting for their master to return from the wedding feast, ready to open the door as soon as he comes and knocks.

‘Blessed those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. In truth I tell you, he will do up his belt, sit them down at table and wait on them. It may be in the second watch that he comes, or in the third, but blessed are those servants if he finds them ready.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • When we pray, we become more vigilant in nurturing our faith. Such vigilance is both for the good and growth of our faith for ourselves and for others.

  • When we set aside time to pray, we are being vigilant. However, we also know that a watchman watches in vain if God is not with Him.  So, whatever we plan to do or to pray and discern, our thoughts must be in line with God’s Will.

  • To pray well, we need to listen, wait and then act in God’s ways. Pray for the wisdom to live in God’s ways and with vigilance.
