Daily Word Of God

Matthew 19:13-15

The people brought little children to Jesus, for him to lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples scolded them, but Jesus said, ‘Let the little children alone, and do not stop them from coming to me; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of Heaven belongs.’

Then he laid his hands on them and went on his way.

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • In today’s Gospel Jesus rebukes His disciples for preventing little children from going to Him for blessings. He shows great affection for them because of their child-like simplicity and humility.

  • As parents or guardians of children, we must teach them to love God and keep His commandments. We must also be exemplary role models for them and teach them to practice all the Gospel values. Pray also that they may grow strong in faith and wisdom of our Lord?

  • Do your children and youth have child-like values?  Who are their “heroes and heroines”? Do they find the lives of saints attractive?  What are their main interests in life?
