Daily Word Of God

Matthew 8:23-27

Jesus got into the boat followed by his disciples. Suddenly a storm broke over the lake, so violent that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But he was asleep. So they went to him and woke him saying, ‘Save us, Lord, we are lost!’

And he said to them, ‘Why are you so frightened, you who have so little faith?’ And then he stood up and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. They were astounded and said, ‘Whatever kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • The “storm” in today’s Gospel could symbolise the “storms of life” that we face in our present life or the crises we faced in the past.

  • Jesus reminds His apostles to have more faith in Him because while the wind and waves and the pains and trials of our lives may seem to threaten us, nothing can overpower His divine presence and protection.

  • Ponder on this truth and renew your trust in the Lord who will never fail you. Speak to the Lord from your heart and feel His assuring Love.
