Daily Word Of God

Matthew 8:18-22

When Jesus saw the crowd all about him he gave orders to leave for the other side. One of the scribes then came up and said to him, ‘Master, I will follow you wherever you go.’ Jesus said, ‘Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.’

Another man, one of the disciples, said to him, ‘Lord, let me go and bury my father first.’ But Jesus said, ‘Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their dead.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • What are your “pre-occupations” or goals that you dream of achieving in life? Would it be acquiring your first property, making your first million, living your retirement comfortably or going on holidays?

  • Where does Christ fit in all your plans? Would your plans change if you were to put Him at the centre of all your life’s decisions and dreams?

  • Would you live a less stressful and more fulfilling life? Why do you think this could be so?  What prayer would say from your heart to the Lord today?
