Dear Friend in the Lord,
Humble Service: In today’s Gospel, through the washing of the feet of His disciples, Jesus is also calling us to serve humbly, like Him. For this, we need to unite our pain, trials and sacrifices with Jesus’ Suffering and Death. Do you want to be more like Jesus? What kind of sacrifices are you prepared to make?
Fr Philip Heng, S.J.
John 6:60, 64-69
After Jesus had washed the feet of his disciples, he said to them: ‘I tell you solemnly, no servant is greater than his master, no messenger is greater than the one who sent him.
‘Now that you know this, blessed are you if you behave accordingly. I am not speaking about all of you: I know the ones I have chosen; but what scripture says must be fulfilled: He who shares my table takes advantage of me.
I tell you this now, before it happens, so that when it does happen you may believe that I am He. I tell you most solemnly, whoever welcomes the one I send, welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me, welcomes the one who sent me.’
