Jesus was teaching one day, and among the audience there were Pharisees and doctors of the Law, who had come from every village in Galilee, from Judaea and from Jerusalem. Then some men appeared, carrying on a bed a paralysed man whom they were trying to bring in and lay down in front of him.

In the fifteenth year of Tiberius Caesar's reign, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judaea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of the lands of Ituraea and Trachonitis, Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, during the pontificate of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah, in the wilderness. 

When Jesus saw the crowds he felt sorry for them because they were harassed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is rich but the labourers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers to his harvest.’  He summoned his twelve disciples

Jesus reached the shores of the Sea of Galilee, and he went up onto the hills. He  sat down, and large crowds came to him bringing the lame, the crippled, the blind, the dumb and many others; these they put down at his feet, and he cured them.  But Jesus called his disciples to him
