Reflection on the WORD

“Spirituality of Humility” – Faith: Today’s Gospel, aptly captures the spirituality of St Therese whose life was filled with the humility of: finding God’s Presence and Will in the simple and ordinary things, people and events of her life. Ponder on, “Like St Therese, let us strive to grow in “holiness” through loving God in the simplest, and humblest of things and people.”

Matthew 18:1-5

The disciples came to Jesus and said, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven?’ So he called a little child to him whom he set among them.

 Then he said, ‘In truth I tell you, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven.  And so, the one who makes himself as little as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven. 

‘Anyone who welcomes one little child like this in my name welcomes me.’

  • Jesus tells us that in order “to enter the kingdom of Heaven” we must live the childlike faith of a simplicity of heart and a humble reliance on God. 

     

     

  • When our relationship with God is one of total openness and trust in Him, we will willingly live in His ways. Our hearts will then be free of greed, pride, envy and self-seeking glory. 
  • When we live in God’s ways, He will happily share His glory with us forever in heaven. Isn’t this the best gift we can ever hope for?
