Reflection on the WORD

Fearlessness - Faith in God”: Jesus instructed His Twelve apostles, “Do not be afraid of those who can kill the body, but cannot kill the soul.Fear those who can destroy both the body and soul in hell.” Ponder on: “The materialistic world’s fantasies are attracting billions of people; away from the “reality” of nurturing the soul for eternity.

Matthew 10:26-28, 32-33

Jesus instructed the Twelve as follows: ‘Do not be afraid. Everything now covered up will be uncovered, and everything now hidden will be made clear. What I say to you in the dark, tell in the daylight; what you hear in whispers, proclaim from the housetops.

‘Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; fear him rather who can destroy both body and soul in hell.

‘So if anyone declares himself for me in the presence of human beings, I will declare myself for him in the presence of my Father in heaven. But the one who disowns me in the presence of human beings, I will disown in the presence of my Father in heaven.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • The sins we commit e.g. immorality, injustice etc. are committed under the cover of darkness to avoid embarrassment.
  • However, nothing can be hidden from God as He is present in all situations of our lives.
  • Pray for the grace to be more fully aware of God’s presence in our daily living so that our thoughts, words and deeds are more Christ-like.
