Reflection on the WORD
“Beatitudes” – Faith: Jesus proclaimed the “Beatitudes” to His disciples. He offered them a spirituality that “opens their hearts” to the Divine Mystery of His Heart; and living the “Mission of His Father’s Will”. Ponder on, “Do we over-focus on how we can love and serve God; yet miss, the need to put Jesus at the ‘centre’ of our lives?. He Loves us unconditionally.
Matthew 5:2b-10
This is what Jesus taught his disciples:
How blessed are the poor in spirit: the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Blessed are the gentle: they shall have the earth as inheritance.
Blessed are those who mourn: they shall be comforted.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for uprightness: they shall have their fill.
Blessed are the merciful: they shall have mercy shown them.
Blessed are the pure in heart: they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: they shall be recognised as children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted in the cause of uprightness: the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- The Beatitudes becomes the “mantra” of our life, if we believe in Jesus the Son of God, who has come to give us eternal life.
- Each of the Beatitudes will speak to us and touch us differently and we would find some of them particularly difficult to live in our daily life.
-
All these Beatitudes guide us to be Christ-like and for this we need to “die to ourselves” so that the Truth of Christ can be made present in our daily living.
