Reflection on the WORD
“Heavenly Rewards” – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed the importance of living a faith that “serves and glorifies God”. Do our hurts and insecurities weaken us to fall into the temptations of “self-service and glory”? Ponder on, “Jesus’ Life served the Good News for the Salvation, of all peoples. Pray for the wisdom to follow Jesus more personally.”
Luke 14:12-14
Jesus said to his host, ‘When you give a lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relations or rich neighbours, in case they invite you back and so repay you. No; when you have a party, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; then you will be blessed, for they have no means to repay you and so you will be repaid when the upright rise again.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Jesus in today’s Gospel tells us that when we throw a party in our home, we should invite the crippled, the migrant workers and the poor and the aged.
- What is preventing me from taking up Jesus’ challenge? Is it out of fear, prejudice or the need to keep our homes to ourselves and invite only those who can reciprocate our hospitality?
- Jesus tells us that the poor and crippled are also God’s children. Am I able to accept them as my brothers and sisters too?
