Reflection on the WORD
“Rejection of Jesus” – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus was rejected by the Gentiles in Samaria. This was the beginning of His great persecutions;that led to HisDeath on the Cross, in Jerusalem. Ponder on, “When we are engaged in serving God’s Mission; expect painful challenges; and embrace them, as Jesus’ crosses with total trust in God’s Providence?”
Luke 9:51-56
As the time drew near for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely took the road for Jerusalem and sent messengers ahead of him. These set out, and they went into a Samaritan village to make preparations for him, but the people would not receive him because he was making for Jerusalem.
Seeing this, the disciples James and John said, ‘Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to burn them up?’ But he turned and rebuked them, and they went off to another village.

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- As Jesus was setting out for Jerusalem, He was aware that the “time” of his Sufferings, Passion and Death has begun. People were already beginning to reject Him.
- Jesus took all these rejections as part of fulfilling His Father’s Will. He knew and was determined not to be distracted and discouraged by these rejections.
-
When we serve God in our lives, do we get discouraged easily and even give up when faced with oppositions and obstacles?
