Reflection on the WORD
“Trust – Temptations” – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed about the great temptations of ‘money’.Material wealthcompetes against our desires to live an authentic life of Jesus’ Teachings and Truth. Ponder on, “The secular world’s temptations are built on falsehoods and fantasies; and irresponsibility that can destroy our true peace and fulfilment in life, with God.”
Luke 16:10-13
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Anyone who is trustworthy in little things is trustworthy in great; anyone who is dishonest in little things is dishonest in great. If then you are not trustworthy with money, that tainted thing, who will trust you with genuine riches? And if you are not trustworthy with what is not yours, who will give you what is your very own?
‘No servant can be the slave of two masters: he will either hate the first and love the second, or be attached to the first and despise the second. You cannot be the slave both of God and of money.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Many things can rule or control us - the love of money, possessions, power and prestige, the glamour of wealth, unruly passions and addictions. All these materialistic and secular attractions can crowd out the love of God in our lives.
- The "master" in our life is that which governs our thoughts, shapes our ideals, controls our desires and dominate the values we choose to live daily.
-
Only the Spirit Jesus has the power to set us free from our slavery to these sins and addiction. If our hearts do not possess God's love, then we may be possessed by other lesser “loves” that draw us away from God. What does your heart treasure most now?
