Reflection on the WORD
“Kingdom of God” – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed the urgency to “repent from our sins.” He also called Andrew and James to follow Him, as His apostles. Ponder on, “Our repentance from our sins and obedience of God’s Will to serve His Kingdom, are also, to prepare our hearts to meet God at our death, which can happen at any time.”
Mark 1:14-20
After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the gospel from God saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel.’
As he was walking along by the Lake of Galilee he saw Simon and Simon's brother Andrew casting a net in the lake - for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, ‘Come after me and I will make you into fishers of people.’ And at once they left their nets and followed him.
Going on a little further, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John; they too were in their boat, mending the nets. At once he called them and, leaving their father Zebedee in the boat with the men he employed, they went after him.

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Just as Jesus called some fishermen to continue His earthly mission of making known His Father’s Will of saving all peoples, Jesus too is inviting each of us to continue His redemptive work in our world today.
- In spite of our weaknesses and sinfulness God wants to use each one of us to make known His divine desires to save all peoples. No one is exempted from witnessing to Christ by the way we think, live or speak.
- To carry out this mission of Jesus means we have to live a Christ-centered life. Will you surrender yourself to Christ today and allow Him to lead you?
