Reflection on the WORD
Who is Jesus to you? – Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus asked His disciple, and us, “Who do you say that I am?” Ponder on: This is the central and foundational question of our faith. If we hesitate and cannot answer with clarity and conviction, then our commitmentto Jesus would likely be weak and filled with justifications; our self-needs may also dominate our lives.
Luke 9:18-22
One day Jesus was praying alone, and his disciples came to him and he put this question to them, ‘Who do the crowds say I am?’ And they answered, ‘Some say John the Baptist; others Elijah; others again one of the ancient prophets come back to life.
‘But you,’ he said to them, ‘who do you say I am?’ It was Peter who spoke up. ‘The Christ of God,’ he said.
But he gave them strict orders and charged them not to say this to anyone. He said, ‘The Son of man is destined to suffer grievously, to be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes and to be put to death, and to be raised up on the third day.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Jesus went through much pain and hardship to liberate us from sin, and to save us from eternal death.
- While Jesus was brutally tortured and cruelly crucified as a criminal for our sake, He was also deeply wounded by our constant rejection of Him through our sinfulness, in spite of His unconditional love for us.
- That is why it is important for us to renew our love for Him by saying, “Lord you are my Saviour. Help me to love and serve you always. Help me to be more grateful to you daily”.
